Magnolias
Odd that today is the day I choose to write this post, considering it's below freezing here in New York today, but what can you do, right? The Northeast is the Northeast.
It's finally spring! (Even though my down jacket would like to tell me differently.) And there's nothing I love more about springtime in New York than the flowers and trees that blossom around this time. It's only my second spring here, and as much as I love the Public Garden in Boston, the abundance of magnolia trees scattered around the city put a smile on my face like no other.
The hard part about dressing in the Northeast during transition months, such as spring and autumn, is that it can be really warm during the day but if you're out once the sun goes down, the temperatures tend to drop. I've honestly been looking for a spring/autumn coat for about three or four years now and that's why I'm SO incredibly happy that Nicholas found this Burberry jacket for me for Christmas. It was hard not being able to wear it immediately – I'm so thankful for it now!
My favorite outfit lately seems to be a pair of comfy sneakers, any pair of my Rag & Bone jeans and this trench coat. It's so effortless and I'm out the door quickly (who's not missing brunch and coffee at Ralph's? this girl!)
How do I love this jacket? Let me count the ways... My main reason I love this coat so much is because there's a detachable hood and a detachable warmer on the inside (of both the hood and the jacket itself.) When it's a little chilly out but not freezing, I can wear the jacket without the warmer and it's the perfect weight. And when it does get cold, I like having the versatility of the warmer. It's like four jackets in one! (Did I just sound like a commercial there? My bad!)
And it dries SO quickly – I've been caught in the rain a handful of times on the way into work already and by the time lunch rolls around, the jacket's already dry.
What about you? What's the one piece that you've been searching and searching for to live in your closet?
