Silk & Tweed
Remember when I said my favorite thing about fall is my IRO tweed jacket? I wasn't kidding. As many of my followers know, my boyfriend and I are in a long distance relationship so whenever he's able to come up, we make the most of it. Despite having a day of work on Saturday, I threw on my favorite tweed jacket, with my favorite boots and my new favorite skirt.
I promise, I won't wear this jacket again for another OOTD! (At least not for a while.) But from top to bottom:
IRO Agnette Jacket
Equipment FR Zebra Blouse
Burberry Scarf
BCBG Ingrid A-Line Skirt
Christian Louboutin Cate Boots
We don't need to talk about how much I love this tweed jacket (if you really want to know, check out my Bella Rebel post.) But what we do need to talk about, is Equipment. They make some of the best silk clothing, whether you want something edgy (like the one I have on here), classic, sleeveless, dresses -- whatever it may be, they probably make something close to it or they have. When I used to work at SCOOP NYC, everyone called an Equipment blouse and Rag and Bone jeans my "uniform." They've also started making cashmere sweaters that I've yet to buy, but that's on the list! (How long is my list getting? I'm scared to check.)
The skirt from BCBG is something I've been wanting to have in my closet for a while. I own another skirt from BCBG called the Simone that I love to death and have had for about three years now. And while I love the look of Herve Leger, I can't bring myself to buy (nor do I have the budget for) a $500+ skirt. Interesting fact, if you didn't know, Herve Leger was acquired by Max Azria in the late 90's and BCBG is also by Max Azria! But I digress... I love my BCBG skirts. They come in a variety of colors, silhouettes and now different patterns as well. If you're looking for a great skirt to have in your closet that'll last for a while but won't break the bank, find your local BCBG retailer and give it a try.
Ahhhh... the long hair I'm known for. I don't know if there's been a picture of my hair on my blog in quite some time. But we'll save my hair salon reviews for another time. You can see the A-line flare from the skirt a little bit better here. I tend to wear my skirts a little higher waisted if I can, or else they are lower than I'd prefer my skirts to hit.
My boots were my first major purchase aside from the moving costs and furniture when I moved to Boston. I've never been able to find boots that fit me correctly (as in... knee-high's that should be knee-high's and not over the knees on someone as, well, petite as I am) that I also love.
And while the price tag on these is a little more than I would have liked, they've definitely held up quite nicely and I've gotten my money's worth out of them. Ladies and gents, when you own expensive shoes, find a cobbler you trust and stick with them. I've had these babies resoled with a rubber sole (Vibram AND Louboutin Red) and I couldn't be happier.
While the food was magnificent at Abe & Louie's, the service and overall atmosphere left a little more to be desired. But it's one of those places that I've always wanted to try before I left Boston, and with two months left and counting, I have to try as many of them as I can.
What's that question about what's the one food you could eat forever? That's the question right? My answer is steak. Forever.
My boyfriend also had a little surprise for me at the end of the night. I've always been a giant fan of Alexander McQueen (the designer, not the brand -- may he rest in peace) and my first piece of McQueen was one of these classic scarves in burgundy with black skulls. And this baby pink and grey one ups the count to four! As I've said before: accessories can make your outfit, especially in the colder places where you're subjected to wearing your down jacket for three months out of the year.
The seasons are changing in the Northeast and we're all starting to break out the jackets and scarves. What's the one piece you can't live without in the winter? Or what do you most look forward to breaking out of your closet every fall?
