Flying with an Ewok

So Nicholas and I welcomed a tiny Ewok into our family in February! And by “tiny Ewok,” I mean a Brussels Griffon pup named Wicket 🐾

Welcoming a new pupper has meant many things for us — one being an unexpected shift in plans that were made before she joined us. A major consideration we had was whether we’d be bringing her with us on a trip back home to Las Vegas to see my parents.

Being the neurotic person I am, I did all my research and tried to plan for all possible scenarios (you’ll see what I mean as you read on…)

Wedding Planning & Visiting Pandora

This seems to happen quite often where I disappear where my posts become inconsistent for a little bit - super sorry about that! I started a new job at the end of May so much of my time and energy have been eaten up by gaining my sea legs (or land legs if you want to stick to the Disney universe 😛

I have been wanting to recap our June trip for sometime so here it goes!

Hakuna Matata

It's been almost two weeks now and I'm still not over my Disney hangover. How do you really get past having Mickey shaped everything and perfect customer service all the time? Not to mention, the amazing scents all over Disney Parks and resorts. Sure beats the trash and smell of gasoline here in NYC!

This trip was the first one in a year that we haven't had to do something.

Well, I'm happy to say that this trip, Nicholas and I took Timon and Pumbaa's philospophy to the maximum level.

Travel: Down the Great Wall and Beyond (Part II)

If you didn't read Part I, head on over and read about Beijing here

We left Beijing via the bullet train. To get to Shanghai, we passed through my hometown: Nanjing. I haven't actually been home since I was 13, so it was a little bittersweet passing through without actually stopping since I still have family there. It was about a four hour train ride, so we arrived in Shanghai relatively later in the day.

Travel: Down the Great Wall and Beyond (Part I)

If you've read my About or my latest blog, you know my major and you know where I was born. For my major, my university requires that you either study abroad for a semester or do a travel seminar for graduation. I was a transfer student so by the time I got around to figuring out everything and settling down in Boston, it already didn't make sense for me to go abroad and retake all of my prerequisite classes. So my option that I had was a travel seminar, which involves just a little over a week in a different country -- mixing in business as well as some touring. Originally, I wanted to go to Italy, not just because I have never been to Europe, but also because the timing was right (I didn't want to go abroad during Spring Break.) But the dates got switched and the China trip got switched to the end of the semester. I won't lie, I was dreading this trip a little bit (18 hours travel?! UGH!)... until I actually got there. First stop: Beijing.

Who is Risa Xu?

If you ask different people this question, you'll probably get pretty different answers -- ranging from, "Who's that?" to "That's not her real name... What IS her real name?" I've been running blogs and social media sites for so long, one of my best friends actually reminded me that I've never done a intro-bio type thing. So let's start at the beginning...

Travel: Mayan Ruins, Beaches and Dancing on Bars

It's been a while, and it seems like the month of July flew by for me. My second week of July was spent in Vegas and the last week of the month was spent in Mexico. This was my first time in Mexico and I wanted to avoid Cancun as much as possible, so we settled for the next best reviewed beach area: Playa del Carmen. At the time, it didn't seem or feel like I was taking many pictures, but once I got back and started reviewing them (and editing them) it felt like it was never ending, so bear with me! I'll also be doing a review of my favorite eats, drinks and hot spots later on!
