Go Rogue

Fall is officially here in New York – despite what the temperatures these last couple days have been. As a kid, I was always spoiled with back to school shopping; it was one of the reasons I looked forward to starting school in the Fall every year. But now, every Fall, I feel like I need a wardrobe refresh and part of a wardrobe refresh is obviously a bag.

Summer Days

This summer has felt like it's flown by. Between all the people that have come and visited (and someone who's even moved to NYC!) and just the craziness of day-to-day life mixed with a little bit of wedding planning, I don't really know where the time has gone. (Clearly, I didn't even realize more than a month has gone by since my last post. My bad!I was getting so good about it.)

Comfort Zone

I don't leave the immediate area of our apartment for many things – we've talked about this before. I don't like having to get on the subway on my days off, especially in the summer. And I don't quite know what's gotten into me this year (maybe it's the deep need to get the right background for my pictures, who knows) but I've found myself wandering from our comfort zone on the weekends.

Down and Under

Well, it took me two years, and I've finally done it.

I don't know what you think I've accomplished exactly but I'm talking about going to DUMBO in Brooklyn. Took me long enough right? With it's scenic backdrops, street art, and amazing food, you would think I would have made my way down there long ago. But alas, I am not an adventurous person – I don't even like going farther than I can walk for brunch on the weekends. (I know, it's disgusting.)

North of Houston

SoHo has always been a sore spot for me. I want to love the abundance of restaurants and great shopping but the amount of tourists and narrow sidewalks makes me grunt out of frustration. (And I do mean that quite literally.)

Despite this, both SoHo and her sister area, NoHo, have grown on me in the past little while. The architecture and streets just make for the perfect backdrops for (not-so) impromptu photoshoots.

Ma Cherie

French style can be defined as effortless, chic, undone... And it's really why I love it so much. Don't get me wrong, I love getting dressed up as much as the next girl. But I also love having pieces that are easy and can just be thrown on without much effort. You might say I have a thing for all things French...

Long Weekend, Short Dress

Hellooooo, long weekend!

Living in NYC and having long weekends gives you quite a few options. You can either head out of the city (to Montauk, the Hamptons) and spend some time away from the city or you can choose to stay in the city and revel in the fact that everyone is gone. Nicholas and I typically choose the latter. Our weeks are so crazy and hectic that when it gets to the weekend, we don't really want to go anywhere. In fact, we don't stray farther than a couple blocks from home.

Upper West Side Rebel

Spring was here – briefly. I agreed to put my jackets back on begrudgingly yesterday and today since the weather took a turn for the worst on Sunday. (Ugh!) It has to be a Northeastern-er thing where we constantly question why we live in this part of the country.

Then we take a walk around the Upper West Side of Manhattan and I fantasize about living in one of those brownstones and how glamorous that would be... Aaaaaand then, I remember living in Beacon Hill in MA and the poor plumbing and how much money it would cost to re-do the whole place... You have to wonder, "Does this girl ever see the bright side to things?"
